lol I was contemplating heading here on the same weekend. Had planned to spend 1 day at writing on stone and then I was going to come here.

Gorgeous shot!

The yellow just doesn't look like it's supposed to be there. Not saying it wasn't a vivid sunrise, just parts are more white than yellow.

I see what you mean. Just checked my RAW file and even on my darkest exposure there is still a bit of the white you are talking about. It was super bright in those parts of the photo. The darkest exposure is greatly underexposed and still had a tiny bit of over exposure in the sky. But the yellow/orange was there in the capture.

Great shot, however not real keen on the yellow highlights in the sky, bit overcooked.

Yes, even on my darkest exposure for this photo, the yellows were so intense. I already desaturated it. They are not clipping though, just still too saturated?

Out of curiosity, what lens did you use for this photo?

this would be the 17-55 2.8 nikkor. Used this lens instead of my wide angle to bring the mountain in a little closer in the frame.

Great shot. I love the low angle you used here!

Ya, I wanted an interesting foreground here and I like how the reeds are "holding" the mountain reflection.

Yup, agreed. Would you recommend the 17-55?

I would, it works good as a landscape lens, and I've heard it's a good portrait lens as well. It's wide and you have some zoom which is good for travelling. But if you're looking to buy one, look into reviews about what you need, not just what I say :)

I'm looking at Nikon's new 16-35. I really like those focal lengths, probably 80% of my photos are taken between 24 and 35, and I would like a wider lens than my current 24-70. Thanks.
