Bow Lake by slickwilly182 Bow Lake by slickwilly182
Bow Lake, Banff National Park
I got to this location early saturday morning of the long weekend, and slept in my car to wake up for sunrise the next morning. I was not anticipating this much snow to still be here or for the lake to still be frozen. Scouted around a little in the early morning and found this spot where a stream was trickling into the lake. Sunrise did not produce and colors at all and this photo was looking pretty dull. So I converted it to B+W using Nik Silver Fx and then adding a blue tint in photoshop. This is a stitch of two vertical photos and then cropped to a square.

I was here a few weeks ago. Lots of snow still in Jasper & Banff. I liked that though i must say. I see many photos of the rockies in high summer. There's something wilder about it in the shoulder seasons when the snow is still there, and the crowds are small to non existent.

Regards. Shaun.

Scene definitely suits B&W. Shouldn't be too much longer until it is thawed

haha ya, not much of a time frame to capture snow free images in the rockies.
july/august are pretty much the only 2 months of the year lol.
and that's usually when we work overtime at my job lol
